J!1.7.3 (Just upgraded from 1.6.3)

Trying to upgrade K1.64 to 1.71
It is just stuck while upgrading. I managed to upgrade on my local machine but failed on the remote. Probably permission problem. How can I find more details? Is there a log file for the upgrade?

Thank you
Shaul

What do you see when you get stuck? Installer has pretty good error messages. There is/was also known issue with Google Chrome in some environments, where installer just gets stuck on reloading the same page.

Thank you for the quick reply.

1. Problem was on chrome.
2. Reproduced on Explorer.
3. Blinking after displaying:

Extract Component
Prepare Installation ... OK
Uncompressing com_kunena-admin.zip ... OK

Try FireFox.

By blinking you mean reloads the same page again and again?

Firefox was fine. Strange.
Now, when I try to configure the forum, I get an error window:

500 Internal Server Error

Fatal Error was detected!

Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 109560 bytes) in libraries/joomla/environment/response.php on line 198

The error was detected in the Libraries.

Does it make any sense?

Hello,

You need to increase your memory limit into the php.ini file, by setting 64 or 128 mb

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Usually 32-64MB is enough. But even Joomla docs recommend 64MB.

The error message complains about 16M. Am I right.
I have 32M, and I don't believe I'll be getting more.
Any idea how to overcome this. It happens only while trying to configure Kunena. Can I edit something manually - meanwhile?

Thank you!

Kunena runs just fine with 16M if you have empty Joomla installation with no extra plugins or components that integrate to Kunena. Of course there are a lot of other things that affect into memory usage as well (PHP version, Apache plugins, PHP plugins etc..).

You have 2 options:
1) Buy a VPS (virtual server) that gives you more resources
2) Make your site simpler by removing all Joomla modules and plugins you don't need
