Question Error on install of fresh 1.6.2 to new Joomla 1.5.22

I am helping a friend get a new joomla site going. This is a brand new install of Joomla 1.5.22. Smaller packages install just fine but larger packages, including Kunena 1.6.2 fail with the error "There was an error uploading the file to the server".

We tried finding a timeout setting in php.ini to increase the timeout time but didn't find anything. We tried placing the zip into the tmp file and doing a directory install but that fails also as it tells us to "please enter a package directory" even though we used the default home/public_html/tmp/com_kunena.....".

Any help would be appreciated.

You most likely have a 2MB upload limit defined on your system.

You can raise that through multiple php ini settings or simply to the install through URL and copy the following URL into the field:

joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/13...b3894_2010-12-29.zip

Thank you, I have sent the info to my friend for him to sort out. In the meantime we are able to install by uploading and installing from a directory.
