Every time i try to install Kunena on Joomla 1.7.1 it fails installing. It doesn't matter if i try it locally or on a server. It alway's shows following error:

Component Install: DB function reports no errors
Error installing component

Doesn't matter if i install it via upload, via tmp folder or url installation.

Locally i have MAMP with
PHP 5.3.2
MySQL 5.1.44
max_execution_time 240
memory_limit 32M
safe_mode Off

it happens/i have tried it with the following installation packages:
com_kunena_v1.7.0_b5135_2011-08-29
com_kunena_v1.6.5_b5005_2011-07-27

Thanks

Hello,

I have encountered too this kind of issues under Joomla! 1.7.0 when i want reinstall Kunena when the first installation attempt was broken. Try to do a clean Joomla! installation and retry to install Kunena

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Hi,
I am newbie here. I am very impressed about Kunena and i am trying to install Kunnea on my site, but I have the same issue as Chalckin. And i don't have a appropriate backup of my site. So i cant clean joomla installation. Is there a solution or i must abandon Kunena?

*** Topic moved ***

G'day, Numerus, and welcome to Kunena.

We understand that people may have problems installing Kunena with PC-based webservers (e.g. MAMP, XAMPP, WAMP, etc.) and that is why we have the discussion Support for PC-hosted websites (e.g. WAMP, XAMPP) for those issues.

As far as installing Kunena on a real webserver is concerned, the recommended approach is given in K 1.6 and K 1.7 Installation and Upgrade and I would ask you to read this guide carefully.

It's not that there isn't a "solution" for problems associated with MAMP. It's just that MAMP sites are different to real internet-hosted ones. We recommend that you read the installation guide I've referred to and the helpful links contained in that guide. I hope this helps and I wish you good luck.

Thanks for your reply sozzled,
I have installed a fresh Joomla 1.7.3 installation on test site, the same server, and installation was successfully.
But on upgraded Joomla 1.7.3 site i cant install Kunena, even i made new installation.
Always i get this message:
500 - An error has occurred.
Another menu item has the same alias in Root. Root is the top level parent

I don't think this is a server issue, because my site running on server with this specifications:

PHP Built On Linux path.mysite.com 2.6.18-028stab068.9 #1 SMP Tue Mar 30 17:22:31 MSD 2010 x86_64
Database Version 5.0.92-community
Database Collation utf8_general_ci
PHP Version 5.3.8
Web Server Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635
WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi
Joomla! Version Joomla! 1.7.3 Stable [ Ember ] 14-Nov-2011 14:00 GMT

Hope you can help me.
