Question K 1.6.4 questions about Karma

The cause of the problem is the Kunena template. Putting it bluntly, the problem was actually caused by you.iLucato wrote: Hi folks, I'm not sure if it is just happening with me, but I've upgraded from 1.6.0 to 1.6.4 and in the back-end I've set the option SHOW KARMA as NO on the Forum Configuration » Plugins tab, but it is showing the karma in the topics/users. It doesn't matter if I set as YES/NO it always display the Karma.
Any idea if it is only with me or it is really an issue in the upgrade?
Hacking the code is unnecessary if people are using the unmodified K 1.6.4 Blue Eagle template. The display of karma is only part-controlled by the forum configuration options; the ultimate control is exercised by the Kunena template. Some templates honour the forum configuration options and some don't. We recommend that people use a Kunena template that respects the forum configuration options.
Why it was caused by me? If you read some posts back, I did a test and you'll see that I've said that even by using the unmodified K 1.6.4 Blue Eagle template and by setting in the administration to hide Karma, it isn't taking any effect. At least from here. So, by using all original 1.6.4 stuffs it still shows Karma even set to hide. When using my own template, it just uses the CSS folder and LoginBox folder which I just changed the register link position, so nothing else that would interfere on that. Have you tested 1.6.4 w/ Blue eagle and tried to hide Karma on your end? (com_kunena_v1.6.4_b4832_2011-05-07.zip)

I have several test sites (J! 1.5 and J! 1.6) where I don't use karma, either, and I've just used the standard installation package. I can give you details via PM if you are really interested.
It may be better, in your case, to uninistall Kunena (your forum data will not be lost if you uninstall Kunena - you will remove all the files and folders from your site - and then you can install K 1.6.4 again.
I don't believe there's a bug with the standard package. It's probable, though, that over time, the hacks you've made have complicated things. This is one reason why I never change PHP files. It's not because I don't know how to change PHP ... it's because it's not worth the hassle.

I've tried twice to reinstall and also tried to rename or delete the folders administrator/components/com_kunena and components/com_kunena and install over and the karma issue remains and the non-translated variables in the manager temples (blue eagle) showing in the back-end. Is there some link where I can read what files/folders should delete to uninstall Kunena from zero without losing the database as you said? I didn't find it in the documentation.
Thanks for your help and have a nice weekend.
