Kunena 6.2.6 released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.2.6 [K 6.2.6] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.1 / K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.2

Question New Install K1.7 and J1.7 - questions on editing, saving DefaultTemplate.
1) Are there Kunena templates that won't conflict with future upgrade installs of Kunena or Joomla? If yes, then please give me the link to those templates.
2) How can I edit the Default Template (installed with Kunena) and then save the template (with it's CSS files) under a different name so it won't be overwritten with any future Kunena upgrade installs?
2a) What CSS files or parts of the Default Template do I need to edit to change the fonts and colors to match my RocketTheme site template? For example, my site template uses Arial fonts and these colors for links:
Links: {color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;}
Visited Links: {color: #000066;}
Hover Links: {color: #006600;}
3) What are the best ways/positions to add Google AdSense to a Kunena forum? For example, I had a phpBB board for years and was able to have the code automatically place ads inside the first post of every topic.
4) What does the template "Button Set" setting do? I changed it to try the other options but I don't see any difference in the icons for my forum.
Thank you for any advice!

We prefer that people create a new topic for each question because, when there are lots of questions, these kinds of topics never seem to end! :laugh: I'll do my best to address some of your concerns.
The information in the Wiki that relates to template design is a bit difficult to follow and comprehend, especially if you are new to Joomla. Therefore, if I was to point you to K 1.6 Template (even though what's written in that article applies equally to K 1.7) you're probably none-the-wiser for knowing.
So, the general answer to your question "how can I make changes to my Kunena template so that they will remain intact whenever I upgrade Kunena" is answered, more or less, in the FAQ How do I change the colours of my template in Kunena? In general terms, therefore, the simple answer is that you should not even try to modify or create your own Kunena template unless you know a lot about what you're doing. As an example of what I'm talking about, over the last three or four days, I've been giving one of my own websites a major facelift. This mainly involved installing a Joomla site template as the basis of designing my own one. Lots of hard work! Of course, I did not want to significantly change my Kunena forum and so I added the necessary bits and pieces to my Joomla site template. This means that I don't have to worry about future changes in Kunena unless I decide to change my Joomla site template.
Regarding the couple of specific questions that you asked about where you change font colours, sizes, etc., a lot of that design work starts by using a tool like Firebug for Firefox (to identify which webpage elements are affected and to experiment with different attributes for those things).
I suggest that you search the forum for "button set" to learn more about this feature of the Kunena Blue Eagle template.
As far as Kunena module positions are concered (in connection with Google AdSense), you will find all the information you need in Module Positions .
Thank you for asking your questions. I am sure that there are many other newcomers to Joomla and Kunena who might also be wondering about the same kinds of things. I've enjoyed answering this topic and I hope that some of what I've written to you may be helpful.

Thanks for the info. I switched so now I'm using the Kunena Blue Eagle default template, instead of the Example template. In the Kunena template editor I have the "Blend with Joomla Template" selected to "yes" and that fixed the need for me to edit the text and link colors of Kunena to match my site template. But when I change some of the forum header and other colors in the template editor it also changes all the link colors (to not match my Joomla template colors) which I don't want.
I've attached a screenshot of a section of my Kunena forum. I tried to narrow down the CSS details with Firebug but I'm not finding the correct CSS file/section to edit. In the screenshot here is what I found and what colors I want to edit:
Item #1) <div class="kheader"> For all the forum headers: I want to change the blue color to green. I want to change the text color from dark blue to white.
Item #2) <tr id="kcat2" class="krow2 krow2"> For all the forums: I want to change the background light gray color to white.
Item #3) <tr id="kcat3" class="krow1 krow1"> For all the forums: I want to change the background dark gray color to light gray.
Item #4) <div class="kblock kcategories-1"> For all the forums: I want to change the border around the sections from dark gray to blue or green.
Do you know which CSS I need to edit and what do I search for to find the correct line to edit?
Can I add my changes to the end of the CSS file to make the edits since the last command takes priority? This is what I did when I edited my RocketTheme template CSS files. It makes it much easier if I upgrade to a new template version in the future since I can easily find, copy and paste my edits to the new template. It will also make it easier in the future when I upgrade to newer Kunena versions that might overwrite the Blue Eagle template CSS files.
Also, I search the forum for "button set" to learn more about this feature of the Kunena Blue Eagle template, as you suggested. However, it brought up over 400 results but I didn't find what I needed after the first 5 pages of results.
Thanks for any advice!

Yes, that's basically the advice we've consistently given and the point that's made in How do I change the colours of my template in Kunena?nemmar wrote: Do you know which CSS I need to edit and what do I search for to find the correct line to edit?
