I've loaded a complex set of Kunena categories into my forum using SQL directly (there are no users, topics, etc yet). All of the categories & sub-categories are showing correctly at the section level, except for the top 'Agricultural' sub-categories. All of it's sub-categories exist when I click into that category, they just don't appear at the section level.

Any ideas?

If I understand you correctly, you're missing the sub-categories Control, Electronics, Ground, etc., from the Agricultural category, is that correct? (Open Technologies... is your section, by the way)

Can you look at the subcategories (of Agricultural) Control, Electronics, etc settings to see whether you have published them or not. That might explain why people can't see them.

Alternatively, you may have restricted the access so that you have to be registered to view those categories.

The Kunena Category Manager is the key. I hope this helps.

Found the problem I think. I slipped one digit on the parent ID insert so I now have sub-sub categories.

However, now I am getting a 500 error when I use Components -> Kunena Forum -> Category Manager. The front end forum still displays, and I can use other Joomla function including other Kunena operations. But I can't use Category Manager to fix the problems.

Here's the error log line:

[timestamp] [error] [client [snip]] File does not exist: [snip]/public_html/administrator/sys_cpanel, referer: [snip]/administrator/index.php?option=com_kunena&task=showAdministration

>>edit: disregard the com_comment errors, they're due to Security Images <<

I am also occasionally getting an error for mod_kunenalatest, which I had installed then uninstalled after I installed mod_jms_kunena.

FWIW cPanel -> MySQL DB's -> Check DB's showed OK, and phpMyAdmin can display jos_kunena_categories OK.

I don't know anything about mod_jms_kunena, what it does or how reliable it might be. It's not software that was developed by, or is endorsed by, the Kunena project.

Enable debug mode from Kunena (disable it from Joomla) and see if something is coming up.
