I converted from 1.5.x to 1.6.4 today and everything went smoothly. All green checks.

However, when superadmin clicks on Announcements, I get taken the forum/recent where it says "no topics". Also, if I click on any forum the page take me to the forum/category page, but it just says "no topics" and there's no place to add a new topic at all.

I tried enabling and making the mootools upgrade top most plugin. I also updated my template which was ported to mootools 1.2. No dice.

Firebig throws this error on page load:
this.options.duration is undefined

Been working on this for hours with no resolution.

I think that the reason that you cannot add new announcements or topics could be caused by a couple of factors.

In the first place, the K 1.6 Upgrade Guide mentions that you may need to consider several issues in migrating from K 1.5.x to K 1.6.x not the least of which involves the interaction of the Javascript libraries deployed by various Joomla extensions that you have installed and Joomla's Mootools 1.2+ libraries themselves. These matters are address in msg #1 of If you are having problems with K 1.6, please read this first .

The second issue concerns your Joomla menu and, from your configuration report, I can see that you have several menu items that conflict with one another. I suggest you look at what I wrote earlier today which might help you: see No forum links working, forum visible but cannot view posts .

Lastly, please read the important information we have mentioned on a hundred or more occasions about using legacy mode. The key point is that if you are using legacy mode, please don't.

I hope this helps.

Do you have some SEF component installed? If it doesn't support the new URLs in Kunena 1.6, you get issues just like this.

I think you should try Kunena with default Joomla & Kunena template.

Usually JavaScript isn't changing links, but its possible to do that. Copy/paste URL to check if it's correct. Also check if it changes/redirects to another page.
