Hi and thanks for the awesome forum and support. I have run into one snag and believe I have exhausted all sources before posting here for help. I have not been able to find the same errors in my searches.

As a last resort, I considered re-installing Kunena, but then saw the message, " Kunena System Plugin -- Please do not unpublish or uninstall ".

Errors occur during attachment and avatar upload. The first is:

Failed to upload file 'LesPaul.jpg': Image MIME type () is not allowed (jpg, jpeg, gif, png).
This occurs during custom avatar upload. For attachments in a post, the message is:
"Attachment LesPaul.jpg not found" in the post with the same red error at top.

If I remove the MIME check for avatar upload, I get:
JFile: :copy: Cannot find or read file: $C:\WINDOWS\Temp\php5AF8.tmp
Failed to upload file 'avatar46.jpg': Could not move file into D:\hshome\<name>\<domain>.com\cms\media\kunena/avatars/users/avatar46.jpg
.

I'm pretty sure that this part "$C:\WINDOWS\Temp\" might be a big part of the problem as it is a hosted solution.

I hope this helps you help me. :) If I have done something stupid, please forgive me in advance.

Hello,

IIS 6.0 isn't a good hosting solution, i advise you to use a linux hosting solution or an hosting solution with IIS but more updated (IIS 7.5/8.0).

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Well, that is disappointing since they just "upgraded me" to the newer solution boxes. ugh. Never considered that IIS could have an impact.

As a developer, do you know if that value above is stored in a global variable that I could alter or hard-code? Crazy talk, I'm sure. :woohoo:

Thanks

Uploads of jpgs work using the Classified Ad plugin, so it seems to be a specific issue with Kunena. Is re-installation of the forum a good idea?

I can't switch hosts at this point and is really not the problem here, anyway.

Thanks!

G'day, wyliet, and welcome to Kunena.

This is an interesting issue that you have, using J! 1.6.3 on IIS 6.0. While I do not doubt that J! 1.5 will interoperate with IIS 6.0, yours is the first case I've seen about trying to use J! 1.6 and, I'm sure, the Joomla community would be the place to start tackling the problems that you seem to be having. Have you looked into this matter at the Joomla support forum ( forum.joomla.org )?

As you will have seen in the technical requirements document, the needs of K 1.6 are more tightly defined than the general needs of Joomla. However, that's not necessarily a stumbling block in your case and we would like to help you find a solution that resolves what appears to be a complete impasse.

One possibility that may appeal to you is to consider your web development using J! 1.5.23 instead of J! 1.6.3. If for no other reason than to establish that the problem is rooted in J! 1.6.3 (as opposed to K 1.6.4), this may give you the means to overcome your present difficulty.

The particular version of IIS that you are using may be the root cause of the problem and it may be an unresolvable one in your case. Many people find themselves in a situation where they feel they cannot change hosting providers but that's usually only a question of exercising one's willpower and shelling out a few dollars.

I hope this helps.

It looks like your server doesn't have proper MIME support installed into PHP module. Easy way to fix this issue is to disable MIME checks from the attachments (easily to be found in our configuration).
