Kunena 1.6.2, Joomla 1.5.22, CB 1.3.1

When pushing the button submit in IE8 for a reply to a post, I'm getting this error in the browser, any idea from where this could come from?

Thanks a lot for your support.

Thank you for your question about problems with your website. It would help others to help you if they could see your K 1.6 configuration report. Do these IE8 Javascript errors prevent you or your users from actually using Kunena? How do these errors prevent you or your users from actually using Kunena? Thank you.

I agree. Internet Explorer 8 is pretty scary! :p

Being serious, IE8 has a lot of issues because it just does everything differently. The whole DOM is implemented differently by Microsoft. It's a big issue - too big to be discussed with any competence in this forum - that confronts all website developers. Joomla does a reasonable job of keeping things clean (and that's why Kunena adopted Mootools 1.2.4 ) but not all Joomla extension developers have kept the faith. What you will find, unfortunately, is that some developers supply their own Javascript code that is not 100% compatible with IE 8 and that, unfortunately, is a fact of life. So, in summary, this problem may be a Kunena problem or it may be caused by something else.

The only way to be 100% sure about what is causing this problem is to eliminate everything until you are left with a situation that you do not see this error. If you would really like to do this we can suggest ways for you to go about it. However, I should warn you, it could take you a long time to identify what, specifically, is the cause.

We've received hundreds of questions in this forum (and I know that these questions are asked millions of times in other forums that I have used) about trying to purify websites so that they don't get these IE 8 "script errors". I have to say that, in my opinion, the cost of eliminating the problem can shorten people's lives because of the apparent stress that they seem to suffer. So, while I agree with you that these kinds of things may "scare" people I would advise people to not "sweat the small stuff" as we sometimes say. You could just live in blissful ignorance of the problem and use Firefox. That's what I would do. :D
