After hours (actually days) of troubleshooting Kunena 1.6 returning a blank page I have discovered it works fine if I unpublish the kunena_menu menu under EXTENSIONS > MODULE MANAGER

Here are my settings:

Any ideas how I can publish the Kunena Menu and still have the forum accessible? I have tried removing Kunena and the menu completely and reinstalling and still no luck.

It works fine without the menu, but it would be nice if I could actually publish it so users could use the forum more easily.

Also if a user tries to edit their profile, none of the tabs such as the following work:

Unapproved posts, Posts, Thank You, Subscriptions, Favorites, Ban Manager

I also cannot edit the signature.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Do you have tried to disable legacy mode and see what's happen ?

I advise you to get rid of artio sef and use only Joomla! sef system.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

No I can't get rid of Artio JoomSEF. It works fine with every other component we use except for Kunena. I do have the latest JoomSEF extension installed to support SEF URLs for Kunena.

But for testing purposes I turned off Artio JoomSEF and even turned off SEF URLs in the global config to see if we can get this working. I also turned off Legacy mode but once I publish the Kunena Menu the forum page interactiveonline.com/index.php?option=com_kunena is blank again.

I then unpublished the Kunena Menu so I could at least access the forum to see if the profiles are working and they are still not. Attached is a screenshot of the profile page (and edit profile page) which is not working for any users.

Kunena has become somewhat of a headache and VERY problematic after the release of 1.6

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone have any ideas how to fixed this? I've turned off SEF URLs and still the profile page is all messed up and still cannot publish the Kunena Menu with the page returning a blank page.

I can really sympathise with this predicament.

K 1.6 is not so much "problematic", it's just that it's a completely different product to anything that has preceded it. The database design, the Javascript dependencies, the optimised source code ... the changes are too numerous to list here. Many of these changes will be showstoppers for some users and many more changes will enable users to build bigger, better, faster web-based discussion forums. On the whole the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

However, the biggest challenges facing most users are the preconceptions that every piece of software they have installed on their Joomla websites co-operate nicely (or will be "compatible") with every other Joomla extension ... including Kunena 1.6. The choice boils down to what are your top priorities.

Legacy mode is an issue and we strongly advise you to fix the issue, once and for all time. It's your choice if you wish to ignore this advice.

If your top priorities are Artio JoomSEF, or any other piece of software that you had running before you installed K 1.6, then you might not be able to use K 1.6. That might be the bitter realisation and a consequence that you will have to accept. Other users have reported problems that they have had with Artio JoomSEF (and some of the complainants were strident in their criticism of both Kunena and Artio JoomSEF) and we accept criticism where it is due. But, likewise, other users have stopped using Artio JoomSEF and they are now very happy without it. I'm not saying that Artio JoomSEF is a bad product; I'm just saying that it may not be right for Kunena or for you.

As far as your second question is concerned, please see [Merged topic]The great Mootools/Javascript conflict discussion

I tried to use a different Joomla template and now Kunena and the Kunena menu both work properly.

I was previously using the YooTheme Evolution template. I am now using the JoomlaShack Impacto template.

Thanks for your help!
