You get that error message because you are using a Joomla component, module, plugin, template or language that was written for Joomla 1.0. That is a big problem these days. Joomla 1.0 is not supported; there has been no support for Joomla 1.0 since 22 June 2009. You must fix this problem first.

No, there is another way that you can see what components, modules, plugins, templates or languages that you installed are incompatible with J! 1.5 ... use the "compatibility list" feature. The "compatibility list" feature is not 100% reliable. Sometimes it does not correctly identify old J! 1.6 software as incompatible; sometimes it incorrectly identifies compatible software as incompatible. However, even though the "compatibility list" is not always completely reliable, it's a start.
