Kunena 7.0.4 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

Question Mootools Upgrade Conflicts and Redirect Loop Issues

Is there anyway to have Kunena NOT rely on the mootools upgrade? The plugin causes many different tools on my site crash. If it is not possible, how do I downgrade to a version that will work correctly without it.

Also, after installing 1.6, all links from the categories created a Redirect Loop error. I had to clear out all SEF links to the forum to get it to work at all. Is there anyway to avoid the redirect loop problem so I can revert back to the link structure I once had.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

It's possible (but extremely unlikely) that Mootools might be involved with these redirect loop issues. You access a page from a menu link. The menu link is controlled by the Joomla Menu Manager. The menu link is resolved by your site routing protocol. I posted this (in another topic ) a short time ago:

Here is a summary of the known causes of the redirect loop issue (in descending order of likelihood) the most likely cause is at the top:

(1) customised .htaccess
(2) issues involving third-party SEF software
(3) menu item with no itemid
(4) the wrong itemid (this would not be generated by the Kunena component)
(5) legacy menu items from K 1.5
(6) the webhosting platform that you are using

It is possible to run Kunena 1.6 without Mootools 1.2.4 but you won't be able to do everything that you might want to do. However, I don't think Mootools is what is causing these redirect loop issues.

Thank you for the response. The best solution was for me top revert to an earlier version of the forum. There are just too many conflicts with 1.6x for me to continue using it.

My links structure is now completely different and I lost all of the existing links, but at least the forum is now working and posts can be made. Unfortunately, when a new post option is selected it now posts to the wrong string... checking the forums to see how to stop this from happening.

If you have any experience with why a new post would not stay with the string it is selected for, please let me know how I may resolve.

I probably shouldn't have updated this tool, but it's too late now to go back...

Thanks.

To follow up - I was able to solve my own problem. It had to do with the extension settings in my SEF tool (JoomSEF).

roth113: In other words, your problem had to do with point #2 in the list I gave earlier. Thank you for your response and I am pleased that we were able to be of some assistance.
