Hey Guys!

Um...I installed Kunena on a website successfully. Once. Now I dunno what's going on with my 2nd installation (not sure if it's a Joomla or Kunena issue). Anyway. I think it's installed properly but when you click on the menu item to bring up the Kunena forums it brings you to the correct page but strangely formatted. I have tried:

1) changing to a different template for the forums page using with joomla (colour changes but still the weird formatting)
2) Rebooting my computer + hoping the problem will magically go away (The Windows 95 Solution)
3) Praying to The Lord
4) Drinking (still in progress but so far no promising leads)

Any help/credit at BevMo would be appreciated.

Very drôle! I needed some comic relief to improve an otherwise routine day.

Yes, your problems are a little unusual and I'm not totally sure where to begin - and it's way too early in my day to start knocking off bottles of wine in the vain hope that it might help - but the green template is certainly one incentive to consider the benefits of opening a Cab Sav even at this early hour.

I'm not even sure that this is a Kunena problem. If I go to your site - www.urbanfoodnetwork.org - and click any menu item, the CSS is broken. The site template that you're using: when was the template designed? Did you change it? Was it designed for J! 1.5?

So let's start with a few basics. Can you post your K 1.6 configuration report , please? This may help but I'm guessing that you'll need to reconsider the site template that you've chosen.

Dear Customer Service Representative,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful note. Yes, perhaps my template is not compatible with your 1.6.whatever Kunena. A thought I had dreaded. You see, that template is a family heirloom and was left to be by my great great great grandmother's friend. And so it has quite a lot of sedimental value. Try to put yourself in my shoes, if YOUR great great great grandma's friend left YOU a Joomla template, it'd really suck if you couldn't show it off on your site, right? So in the name of God And All That Is Good In This World, I implore you...is there (mayhaps) yet another version of Kunena forums that might be compatible with my late great great great grandma's friends heirloom Joomla template?

Ellie

PS I was a little disappointed that you had a sense of humour as it is MUCH more fun to have an internet romance with someone with NO sense of humour. The guy on Appointment Booking Pro is an excellent example and therefore I highly recommend spending the 50 bucks on Appointment Booking Pro. Completely worth it even if you never use the program and just post fake customer service problems so you can make fun of the uptight customer service guy.

PPS I think it's probably okay for you to start drinking. It's like 2-or-something here in California which means that it's totally "legal" for you to start drinking. I mean, unless we took over some other countries in the east that I haven't heard about yet (what are the odds...). Personally, I like to get a jump on the day and start right at 12.01pm. But I admit that sometimes I cheat and start as early as 12.00:58. And I think it's probably also okay to open the wine to let it breath for a while prior to that as well. And of course you would need to also taste check it multiple times to make sure it wasn't getting too oxygenated. Sometimes that can be a problem.

Your problem has very little to do with Kunena. I would imagine that, if you uninstalled Kunena, you would still have the same problem (your menu items would still render broken CSS) but I have been known to be wrong before.

It's now 10:15 in the morning on the eastern side of Australia where I live.

Let's try to eliminate Kunena as the culprit - the cause of your problems - but it would help if you posted you K 1.6 configuration report like I asked you to before you think about uninstalling Kunena in order to satisfy my curiosity/suspicion that your Joomla website needs work in other areas. Thanks ;)

We'll consider the geography lesson another time, possibly over a Pinot Noir, but let's get back to the problem. ;)

I posted the link in my earlier message - How to report configuration settings . There is a feature in your Kunena control panel that generates BBcode (containing the relevant details of your configuration). Copy the generated BBcode from your site and paste it here in a new message in this topic. Fairly easy.

I still believe that no amount of sacrificing of kittens will propitiate the internet gods in your case. Your Joomla site template (heritage-listed or family heirloom notwithstanding) seems to be the cause of your Joomla menu problems. Kunena is an unlikely contributor to those issues.
