Question Default Template issue with site menu

I've run into a strange issue. On my site, I've installed a menu mod which works perfectly on every page of my site except for the Forum pages. On the forum pages, using Firebug, I can see where the menu items are being moved from the menu bar into the extreme upper left corner of the page for some odd reason. All of the css is identical to my other pages, but for some reason I'm guessing that the Kunena template is somehow interfering with the placement of the menu text items. It is only the individual Menu Text Items which are missing. The menu bar and search block appear exactly where they are supposed to, it's just the areas where the text links should go that the css seems to get screwed up. The css itself shows the block for the text items, but there is only the padding showing, not the actual block element itself. Any ideas?

I'm only guessing, because we've only seen the picture - we haven't seen the real site - and this is the first I've seen of such an issue where Kunena clobbers something on a site template (usually it's the other way around  ) ... I'm guessing your site menu is driven by some Javascript function and there's a Javascript function conflict between Kunena and your site. I don't know if that helps because it's just a guess. Might help if we could see the issue under real operating conditions.

After a LOT of searching, I finally disabled all of my plugins and modules. This allowed me to see the menu working properly on the page, then re-enabled each plugin one at a time. When I finally came to the one which was causing the issue, I simply removed it. Now all is working just as it should be. One other item of interest for you... The Jbolo component was causing my Boardcode item to fail (No icons and smilies not working) and had noticed that this seems to be a problem with some plugins using old mootools. Just thought I'd add this component and plugin to the list of potential conflicts.

Thanks for the reply!

Thank you for your reply, bigal0228, and I'm very pleased to hear that you have solved your problem. Your case is a fine example for others to follow! B)

Perhaps, one day, someone might research all the topics that have been started in K 1.6 and compile a list of the software that has been reported to have caused Javascript conflicts with Kunena. I have heard that some Jbolo software causes problems for Kunena - not all Jbolo software, just some. So, for others reading this topic, if you are using Jbolo extensions, you should put them on your list of "usual suspects" ... but they may not necessarily be responsible for problems you may experience elsewhere on your website (like Kunena, for example).

I totally sympathise with people who must feel exasperated and think that the situation is hopeless. These problems seem almost impossible to know where to start solving if you've installed 32 components, 85 modules, 24 templates, 3 languages and 57 plugins (as I've seen on some Joomla websites)! The problems are further compounded when people have never upgraded any extensions after installing them on their websites over two years ago. I'm not saying this is what happened in this case. I am saying that I am sympathetic about the need to spend time searching for clues. Obviously, though, the smaller the number of Joomla extensions you are using, the less time you will need to spend looking for the source of software that conflicts with other software you may be running.
