HI,
Unfortunately you cannot take any subset of mootools and assume the functions removed are not used. Sure you can make it smaller, but you are also cutting out functionality - functionality most likely used for the bbcode editor.
Having said that the libraries shipped with Joomla are already very small when you setup your server correctly, so that the files a gzip compressed. If you check out site, you will see that the Joomla version of mootools.js is 32.9kB and that is for everything you need to run Joomla and Kunena - even with the legacy code included to make older apps run. Joomla 1.6 wont have that legacy modes and will have slightly smaller libraries.
Having said that - we are still loading too many js and css files for a site like ours. Something we will be working on for K1.7
Hope this helps!

This is not Kunena issue -- it's Mootools 1.1 compatibility layer in Joomla which is needed to get old templates and extensions to work. It also contains Mootools More, which isn't inside Google version..
Kunena doesn't have Mootools, it just uses it.
