ok, so, I know that not many people will post this kind of problem, but - my screen reader reads a text box and "browse" button below the "attachments" portion. However, when my wife looks at it, there is not another text box or a browse button visible.
For help pinpointing this, if you're using Firefox, there is an add-on called "fangs" that will show you in text format what the page/site looks like to a screen reader.

Any help to figure out what's supposed to be here would be greatly apprecicated.

thanks in advance,
Flip

I believe this issue has been taken care of and the root cause has been determined to be a string replacement plugin that corrupted all the css on output. Please confirm.

We love stars on the Joomla Extension Directory . :-)

I can provide an update on this situation. We are still looking into the reason why the screen reader (used, in this case, by a blind user) seems to detect non-visible elements that are not seen by a sighted person. We have not yet concluded the reason why there is a "browse" function (that I can't see but that the blind user can see with his screen reader) that may or may not have something to do with Windows XP or IE 8.
