G'day, mayhem2277, and welcome to Kunena.

The errors were caused by the Joomla extension JotCache: see Problem component JotCache with Kunena 1.7.1 . It sounds like it was a good idea to uninstall that extension.

Your other problem (about the forum going offline) I'm not sure about. It could have something to do with the Kunena template you are using. Do you have the same issues if you use the Blue Eagle template? If you do not have those problems with the Blue Eagle template then you should not use the Integrity Pro Kunena 1.6 which was not developed by the Kunena project team and which was designed for an older version of Kunena. You should probably ask the author of the Integrity Pro Kunena 1.6 if they have made an update for that template.

You seem to have issues with your Kunena menu - which is a Joomla menu. Please read How do I restore my Kunena menu? in order to fix your Joomla menu.

You are using two different extensions for generating SEF URLs: ARTIO JoomSEF and AceSEF and these will probably conflict with one another and with Joomla SEO. I would remove both of them while you are working through your problems.

You do not need My Kunena Forum Menu 1.7.0, Kunena Forum Posts 1.7.0 or Kunena Groups 1.7.0 - all of these are wrong for K 1.7.1 - unless you are using JomSocial. You have not installed JomSocial and therefore you should uninstall those things.

You should also upgrade Kunena Discuss and Kunena Login - the versions you have installed are also wrong for K 1.7.1 0- if you are using those modules. See the download page.

I'm not sure what you mean by your "forums going offline". Do you get a message that says "Forum is offline for maintenance"?

HI SOZZLED,

currently I am using acesef seo extension , I did use the artio seo in the past but had login and captcha issues with it, so uninstalled it and deleted the directory's.

I don't use the kunena menu . it is working as is,

I have updated the login and latest modules

to explain the situation better: every 4-5 days the forums go offline(Forum is offline for maintenance), the rest of the site stays online and responds quickly to requests. no errors have shown in the logs when i looked ,the site is lock down with 755 directory 644 file permissions . the only fix is to reinstall the forums .

I'm the only user with access to the back-end. I haven't set the forums offline or anything.

I do appreciated your help in helping me find a fix for this annoying error

So what just happened to your site right now is what happens ?

I just went back to your site to check on the thread I posted on your forums, and it shows me the "This site is down for maintenance. Please check back again soon." message.

Our approach is always to start with a known, reliable basis. ARTIO JoomSEF complicates issues. If you have issues when you use that extension, you need to contact the ARTIO JoomSEF developers; we know very little about their work.

If you search this forum in relation to problems that people have had with ARTIO JoomSEF you will find that this is not something that people have enjoyed trouble-free. I'm not saying that this is the cause of the problem but it would be sensible to eliminate this from the software soup that might be responsible for the problems that you may be having.

If you don't want to use the Kunena menu, in the way that it's designed to work, that's OK, too. But you should have a good understanding of how Joomla works and what is the recommended advice we've given in relation to using Customised menus .

This is primarily a community-driven, self-help forum. We'll do our best but, if people want to do things in their own particular way, it may take longer to give you the help that you're after. I suggest we start by establishing that your site works, first, without the clutter I've pointed to. Have you made the changes I recommended? If you were to post your configuration report now, would it be any different?

i was cleaning out some stuff on the site, so i turned it offline for 20-30mins, i was also installing the updated login and discuss kunena modules, so that why the forums were offline
i have disabled the acesef seo, i haven't used the artio joomsef in 2-3 months , i have cleaned out the cache and turned off other unneeded modules .

Artio JoomSEF, or rather trying to completely uninstall ARTIO JoomSEF, has been a source of problems for many of those in this community. Even if you have not used ARTIO JoomSEF, your configuration report shows that there's something left behind that Kunena thinks you are still using on your website. We've had discussions in the past on this subject. The problems that people have, in the past, reported about ARTIO JoomSEF have mostly gone away when people have been able to finally rid themselves of that troublesome extension.

Please uninstall My Kunena Forum Menu 1.7.0 and My Kunena Forum Posts 1.7.0. You don't need them.

Please try with the Blue Eagle template. The Integrity Pro Kunena 1.6 is not supported by the Kunena project team. The Kunena project team supports the Blue Eagle template. If you continue to have problems with your forum going offline when using the Integrity Pro Kunena 1.6 template, please contact the author of that template.

I suggest, until you resolve the problem of your forum going offline, you uninistall and complete remove everything related to both ARTIO JoomSEF and AceSEF. I hope that helps.

Do you still have this offline issue? It can only happen if something writes to Kunena database and changes offline flag into 1. Kunena doesn't do it, so you must have something else that saves Kunena configuration...

hi matias,

its was intermittent error, it was happening every 5-10 days , it about 7-8 days since it last happen . in the kurena setting it was showing that it offline was to set to No. any time it was going offline it was in the middle of the night.be
I think the error is fixed(knocks on wood), I have gotten rid of the seo/sef URL that might be the source of the error.

I really do appreciate the help you have given me.

Let's hope you're right. We will assume for the time being that the issue was caused by ARTIO JoomSEF and that things are stable. If you have problems in the future, please let us know.
