Kunena integration settings haven't been touched before,

Yesterday we tried a new install, and only set back the categories, users and messages, but this still didn't solve our problem.

I guess this is just a "forgotten" feature in Kunena, if you make too many sub-categories, I guess this will happen...

There are few known limitations on subcategories:

* Parent category shows last topic from hidden category
* Parent category doesn't have NEW! icon on it -- only subcategories have
* Mark read only affects current category

All of these have (I think) fixed in K2.0.

Oh, BTW: I just looked 5th time at your screenshots and finally found out what's happening in there.

Try changing:
Configuration > Frontend > Show Child Category Image = Yes

Thanks but also this doesn't solve the problem. Still neither of them is showing "unread" when a post has been made deep in the category's.

With disabling category images, I was hoping it would always show on the "main" one...

I guess this should be a good one to fix in K2.0. For now, I guess I will have to change my forum layout... :pinch:

It has been in K2.0 for almost a year.

I cannot backport it into K1.6 as it has some design limitations.
