Question What's the best way to make a truly multilingual forum?

Hi,

What's the best way to setup a forum that has the same categories in English & Spanish (& translates menus, etc)?

I would imagine the best way to structure the categories would be like this:
Code:
English (top level section) -Beginner (categories) -Intermediate -Advanced Spanish -SpanishBeginner -SpanishIntermediate -SpanishAdvanced

I would imagine JoomFish is required for translation (I want the site to be translated based on what's in the URL - I don't believe Kunena can do this - Or is there another way, using Kunena's translation files, to activate them based on the URL & not just with a logged in users profile selection).

Things I can't decide the best plan:

Domain Structure/Duplicate Content
en.site.com/forum <-Shows the English forum in the English translation
es.site.com/forum <-Shows the same English forum, but everything (except the forum messages) is translated to Spanish.
  • This makes for a bad user experience (page is half Spanish, half English)
  • This makes for 2 separate sites/pages, that have the same content

I can separate the forums & page translation with creative use of menus, but anyone could change the subdomain in their browser from en to es to change the translation. This is fine, as most won't do this, but Google could. Any suggestions to block this?

Forum Search
Can Kunena be made to only search one forum section at a time? (If in English site, only English forums would be searched)

I'm not looking for the technical steps to take. Instead, I'm curious what the best plan is for implementing this. I've already created the forums, & have English & Spanish forums separated (via menu), but the search is mixed,

I'm using a clean install of Joomla! 1.5.22, Kunena 1.6.2 & JoomFish 2.1.3.

Thank you very much for your help,
-David

Basically, I want it to appear like 2 completely separate forums (An English & Spanish forum), but all ran through 1 Joomla install.
