Question Editing Profile

Just did a clean install of Joomla 1.6 and successfully moved a 1.5 site.

Decided to add Kunena 1.6.3 - no install problems

But cannot edit a profile - editing screen opens, but no data boxes show under User Account, etc.

Mouse-over on Save and Cancel work, but that's it.

Possible a permissions problem?

Any suggestions of where to look would be appreciated.

You have a Joomla 1.6 site by and "moving" a 1.5 site. ???

You cannot run Kunena 1.5 on J! 1.6 site and so I don't understand what you mean by "moved a "1.5 site". You cannot "move" a J! 1.5 site into J! 1.6 either, not unless you migrate the site. Migrating from J! 1.5 to J! 1.6 is non-trivial.

So, to cut through the ambiguities, can we start again, please. Could you please post your K 1.6 configuration and could you please explain, point by point, exactly how you created your site.

The recommended way to install K 1.6 is described in K 1.6 Installation Guide . If you do it some other way then you're responsible for those things. The symptoms of not being able to edit your Kunena profile, in the way you described them, are indicative of Mootools but Mootools problems in J! 1.6 are almost unheard of! :S So I think we need to clearly understand what you've got and how you got there.

Sorry for the syntax errors - we built the new Joomla 1.6 site from the ground up following the installation guide 1.6.

It's a replacement for our 1.5 site on a non-cloud server.

K (again, following instructions) was installed after we had the basic J1.6 functioning.

The symptoms you described in your first post are indicative of Javascript (i.e. Mootools) problems. The standard approach to these kinds of things is to follow the recommendations in If you are having problems with K 1.6, please read this first . I can only use the words "indicative of" because we cannot actually see your website to confirm those suspicions. We respect your right to privacy and if you don't want to share that information we fully understand. You must, however, appreciate that you're severely limiting our capacity to analyse, diagnose and prescribe a solution to your problems.

As you are aware, K 1.6.3 is not endorsed as a native J! 1.6 component at this time. The situation is expected to improve with K 1.6.4 (although this version is not publicly available) and beyond.

Thank you for your report; it's the first we've seen that something that indicates problems with Mootools under J! 1.6. It would be good to find what is causing this issue with Joomla and to alert the Joomla community to the situation.
