Question Re: Kunena, all links gives 404 error

I also get 404 error no matter what I do.

I can't even create a main menu item named "Forum", because for some reason there is a kununamenu with "forum" as an alias. Must be the devil that created that menu, because I never put it there.

All I want is a main menu item pointing to the component, but nothing is working.

You issue is totally different from this threads original. You are attempting to run Kunena 1.6 on Joomla 1.6y and there are several known issues. For example Joomla 1.6 does not allow two menu entries in different menus to have the same alias. That is in general a good thing, as it will prevent a lot of problems in the future, but it also means that the current two menu design of Kunena 1.6 has its limitations under Joomla 1.6 until we have found a more permanent solution for it.
This is a known Joomla 1.6 related issue and we are working on fixing it for the next release of Kunena 1.6.

Oh, thanks for the reply. No problem then... I almost committed suicide as I've only been having issues with J1.6 components and I guess there are many bugs still left for developers of various components to fix.

There have been a number of reports about issues with installing or using K 1.6 in Joomla 1.6. Some of these issues are show-stoppers if users are considering Joomla 1.6 to run their production websites. Many of these issues will be fixed in future releases of Kunena and Joomla. For the time being, we are asking users to continue to use the K 1.6 test reports category to report issues that that they have with K 1.6 and J! 1.6.
