I have installed a backup, re-installed K1.6.4 and now i can see what you are refering to and have fixed the issue

The problem is that on update some categories are locked in the database yet show unlocked in Kunena

The categories - I think we're actually discussing sections - were already locked before the upgrade. Upgrading to K 1.6.4 does not change the lock state of categories (or sections).

@Matias: I haven't personally tested this issue with K 1.6.5 and so I can't answer that question at this time.

I have just updated another forum and after update all the categories that could be seen by registered Joomlas user show as unlocked in the backend but you cannot add topics to them unless you are a superuser. In the database they contain 1 and should be 0 so are locked.

I have reinstalled the backup and will wait for 1.6.5

Thanks

I just want to be absolutely clear on one point. Were the forum sections locked before you upgraded? I mean, what was in the database before the upgrade?
