Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

My client reported to us that some of their users are saying that they are not getting emails from subscriptions. I've been getting moderator notifications this whole time without any issue. I just took my personal account and subscribed it to all the forums so I can see the I can recreate the issue. Regardless, are there any known issues with subscription emails in K1.6.4? Or maybe anything I can check?

Spam filter? Do you have wrong MX and SPF records for your mail server? It's very important to have the right configuration in your DNS, otherwise repeating mail gets easily classified as SPAM.

I was testing the forum notifications again today and I got a subscription notice for the new topic I created as well as the reply to that new topic. However, any further tests did not send me anything. I checked my junk and spam and did not see anything in there. Do permissions play any kind of role with notifications?

The forum that did send notifications was a forum open to everyone and had no special admin access. The forum that didn't was a forum open to nobody and only super admins could access it. I then tried changing that forum so everybody has access to it, but that did not send me any emails either. Is there a mail queue or something like that somewhere I can look at to see if emails are at least being generated or processed?

As far as we know, there are no known issues with subscription emails in K1.6.4. There is some issue that we haven not yet fully understood involving one person and the use of locked categories: see Notifications do not work in blocked categories . Does this apply in your situation?

I ended up figuring out that it was because I was testing posts with the user account that has the subscriptions. When I created a second account and made posts with that one, the first account was receiving notification emails. I didn't notice this at first because the one category we made was sending emails to the first account whenever the first account made posts. That made me think Kunena sends emails to the original poster as well.

Anyways, it looks like this is working well. Thanks!
