Question Reinstalled K-menu, broke SEF

Hi all,

Last night, while tweaking the Kunena menu module, I inadvertently changed its position. As a result, it was no longer displayed.

No problem: I reinstalled it from the Control Panel and everything seemed fine again...

Except that Joomla SEF broke for forum posts.

The menu links work fine, but opening a message thread generates a "redirect loop".

My only recourse is to turn off Joomla SEF.

There are a huge number of messages on the topic of "redirect loops" here, and I just read bunch of them, but I didn't find anything that helped.

There are many reference to .htaccess, but I haven't touched that. There are also mentions of itemIDs, but I don't know anything about that.

Any ideas what might be going wrong here?

Thanks.

You will see what's wrong if you look at your K 1.6 configuration report. If you recall, Colin, I offered to help you with this issue a couple of weeks ago - to show you how to go about putting a Kunena menu on your website. You decided that you did not require my help then. Would you like it now?

Thanks as always, Sozzled.

(You offered to help me with something awhile back but that nothing to do with the Kunena menu. Perhaps a different "Colin"...?)

Not sure what I should be looking for in the report below. Does anything catch your eye?

Yes, I know I am still running 1.6.4-DEV. I had a bug with 1.6.4 release. I'll explain, I promise ;)

TIA

Your K 1.6 config report shows that your menu is screwed up.

Call me on Skype and I'll fix it with you.

... and please update to the stable K 1.6.4.

OFFTOPIC:

... and please update to the stable K 1.6.4.

I did, but it broke something on my site, which I reported here: www.kunena.org/forum/159-k-16-common-que...topic-drop-down-menu .
I went through the my config over and over and couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I reverted to the previous version, 1.6.4-DEV, which "fixed" it but obviously didn't solve it. :(

The main problem was solved by using the trash-burn-build approach (and using Alias Menu type to define an entry point to the forum).
