Hi folks, Kunena shows 1st profilebox and below the announcement box. Any ide how to invert its position? What file controls it?
I want the announcement shows above the profilebox.

Thanks in advance.

Let me see if I understand your question properly. You want to put the announcement above the profile box, is that correct? You will need to change the Kunena source code but, I'm guessing, you don't want to have to change the source code when there's a a new release of Kunena, is that right? I'm also assuming that you might want your changes to work whenever there are new changes brought out in new versions of Kunena. Have I just about summarised everything you've asked for?

- Yup, you're correct. That's what I'd like to do.

You will need to change the Kunena source...

- It was what I thought once I didn't see any option in the back-end. Do you have any idea which file controls it while we don't have this embedded option?

...code but, I'm guessing, you don't want to have to change the source code when there's a a new release of Kunena, is that right?

- It depends. Will this new version have such option in the back-end to invert profilebox/announcement positions, so we can opt to put above or below? It's a good suggestion for the next release or 2.0. I'll add in the Ideas for Kunena thread. ;0)

I'm also assuming that you might want your changes to work whenever there are new changes brought out in new versions of Kunena. Have I just about summarized everything you've asked for?

- I know every new update, if I always want to have the latest Kunena, I'll need to change all again. In this case I need and I have a report off all lines and codes changed in the original code to accomplish my template and code.

If you change the source code of the one file that controls these things then any changes you make will be lost when you upgrade Kunena ... unless you build your own template. There are no guarantees that any template you design or build yourself will remain compatible with any future release of Kunena. Are you prepared to accept those risks?

Do you remember the problems that you had when you stayed with K 1.6.0 for four or five months because of the changes that you made to Kunena? Is it really worth the hassle?

The project team is considering, for K 2.0, several fresh layout ideas for Kunena. Templates developed for K 1.6 will not be compatible with K 2.0 (just as templates developed for K 1.5 were not compatible with K 1.6 either). The incompatibility of templates between different versions of Kunena should come as not great surprise. Templates designed for J! 1.0 were not compatible with J! 1.5 - even if you say that they were compatible if you use "legacy mode", the templates themselves were basically incompatible - and J! 1.5 templates are totally incompatible with J! 1.6.

So, if you are prepared to accept all of these risks, I will then spend a bit of time searching through the Kunena source code to find where this is defined and then I will post the information for you. If, on the other hand, you don't think that the risks are really worth taking, merely for the sake of putting the announcement above the profile, then we won't have to bother ourselves.

There's actually an easier way to do this. You can create your own module position(s) for your Joomla site template, write a Joomla article that contains the "announcement" and put the announcement into that module position. This will allow you total flexibility in terms of what goes into the announcement. Simple solution and you don't have to change a single line of PHP code.

Hey Sozzled, thanks for the tip of a easier way to do this. Well tought! No need of PHP code as you said, no need to take a risk, and better to wait new stiffs that are comming in Kunena 2.0. :0) Just to share with the community if somebody else is interested in, I've done and article, found and installed a module (PlaceHere 1.3.1) which places an article in a module position and turned off the Kunena announcement from the back-end and voilà! An announcement on the top of the profilebox. :0)

In sum, no need to spend a time seaching the code or changing the code for both of us!

Thanks a lot for your suggestion and help. Another topic solved. ;0)
