question number one:
Why Maximum Image Height is both 1024px and 32px in your settings?
(typing error?)
question number two:
what happens if I set max Image width/height to 1000x1000 but the area in the forum is, for example, only 800px wide? The image displayed in the post will be resized to fit the available area?
question number three:
do you confirm me that thumbnails parameter are used only to display attachements not inserted in the post?

What happens if you change those values to something else? I don't know. That's something you can experiment with.
If your site template has a maximum display area for your component that is 800px wide then that's a design choice that you made. The component display area here at www.kunena.org is 930 px wide.
I'm sorry, I don't understand your last question. Can I confirm that "the thumbnails parameter are used only to display attachments not inserted in the post"? Again, this is something that you can experiment with. I have a few dozen other questions I would like to answer today and I would appreciate your help in conducting your own lab tests.

Does this answer your question now?
- Forum Configuration
- Images
- Maximum Image Width = 1024 px
- Maximum Image Height = 1024 px
- Thumbnail Width = 32 px
- Maximum Image Width = 32 px
- Image Quality for JPG Resizing = 50 %
Look carefully at what you wrote. Do you see? The Maximum Image Width parameter is repeated two times. This is the typing error I'm referring to.

Ok, will do some "experiments" and I will post results here. I'm only a little bit surprised that nobody knows what thumbnails parameter are exactly used for...
(please, excuse my english  )

Hello Mortti, thanks for your post. But the meaning of what you wrote is a little cryptic for me. Please, explain me...
- Are you suggesting to brutally modify the CSS template to force reduction of the image size embedded in post?
- Do you know exactly for what thumbnails parameters (in the kunena configuration settings) are used?
Maybe I was not clear, I apologyze. My main target is to show images embedded in a post at a reasonably size (say 400x400) and to show the original size of an image only when a user click on it (via Lightbox).
Currently, If I set a limit to the image size (say 640x480) what I see in the post and/or in the lightbox both is the same. Image dimension doesn't change...
I was, wrongly, thinking that thumbnails parameters (Thumbnail Width and Thumbnail Height) was used for that. But I was wrong.
