Hi,

I want to get rid of the moderator and admin images and have those groups resort to the ranking pictures we use on our website. www.mcfcforum.com

I cannot work out what i have to change in order that I can override this.

Hi Sozzled,

Thanks for your response, I have gone through the ranks management document a few times but cannot seem to work it out. If I set all ranks to special it still shows the administrator bar rather than the rank images I have put in place. Works perfect for registered users but not admins and mods.

I think I understand what you are saying; basically you don't require the rank of a user (who may be an administrator or a moderator) to appear differently than anyone else. From a totally technical standpoint this is not feasible within the standard Kunena package.

Let's suppose that I wanted to be a "normal", "regular" user just like everyone else, without the appearance of having added forum privileges. No problem, really. I would have an account for that purpose": a normal, regular, non-privileged account. When I needed to exercise forum moderation privileges I would login with my privileged account. So, you can see, your idea is feasible in a practical sense.

I can anticipate the next question: "We can't do that, it takes too much time to login and switch accounts." If you want a custom solution that achieves what you want without the added overhead of changing accounts, then you could create your own template and change the PHP source code that drives the way that ranks are displayed. If you ask me where that source code is, what lines need to be changed, etc., I don't know the answer to that question. Alternatively, don't use Kunena; find some other web-based discussion forum that achieves just what you want and use that instead.

Perhaps someone else in the community has a similar need to yours and has already solved this problem. They might like to share their ideas with you.

I hope I've been able to help.

Sozzled,

Thanks for your help, I do appreciate it. Even a , it can't be done is better than to continue to wonder. There are 1 or 2 things Kunena cannot do which IPB could but overall sticking with Kunena and living with it's differences is much more preferable. I am trying to avoid modding Kunena to much until I have fixed my other issue which works on the test site but not on the live site.

Cheers,
Mark.
