Question
Prevent posting of a message containing invalid attachment
When posting a message (or new topic) with an attachment not in the "File types allowed" the message gets posted nonetheless but with a "Failed to upload file" error. It's not convenient because if user edits are not supported then there's no way to correct this.
How to prevent posting of a message if there is an invalid attachement?
One way that you can prevent this kind of possibility - if you don't want those kinds of files uploaded - is to post a message on your website stating what file types are allowed and what kinds are not allowed. People will eventually "get the message". Saves you (and us) a lot of work, doesn't it?
The allowed file types are already in the tooltip for the attachment box. Unfortunetly I can't rely on our users, and from a UX perspective it should at least prevent posting if something's wrong, and ideally the file picker should only show the allowed types.

The system works - the attachment is not allowed - but not in the way that you would like. I understand the problem. The solution (if there is to be a solution in K 1.6) may take a longer while to arrive. If you would like to request your idea as a
feature request
you might have some success having a more "elegant" solution placed on the Kunena development agenda.
