Kunena 6.4.7 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.4.7[K 6.4.7] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x/5.3.x/5.4.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.4
Important note: Go to the Kunena Dashboard after an upgrade so that the Kunena database tables are also updated. This is particularly necessary for major version jumps so that the table changes are adapted.

Topics that are moved into this category are generally considered to be closed. Users may want to add additional information but these topics should not be resurrected in order to discuss new problems or unrelated matters.

I dont think if the new database from installing 1.6 latest ver. deleted some of recent topics

Thank you for providing us with your configuration report. I don't know, from what you have written, why or what messages were mysteriously deleted when you upgraded. That might be for someone else to comment.

RedtopX wrote: About the RED NOTIFICATION.. it just showed when my first time upgrade.
I tried to install the latest version again then the red notification doesn't show anymore

Further question: from what did you upgrade to K 1.6.0?

I also notice that you are using legacy mode on your website. Please read important information about Legacy mode and take action to change this as soon as you possibly can. Thank you.

Posted in a different topic

RedtopX wrote: 1 more prob that i need to solve... the recent topic of mine and some members.

I just downloaded this -> com_kunena_v1.6.0_b3620_2010-10-03_2.zip
I was using this version -> com_kunena_v1.6.0-RC3_b3539_2010-09-20
before I upgrade to what i've just downloaded.

So, how many messages did you have before you upgraded and how many messages to you have now, after the upgrade? In other words, how many messages did you actually lose.

Have you done anything about legacy mode?

here's the message:

Kunena Notice: Legacy menu item in /forum-discussion-board (Itemid=63). Redirected to /forum (Itemid=185).

I have lost some topics from
"GRAPHIC MODIFICATION CATEGORY" 5 new topics but some of the old post was still there, the old post from version 1.5.12 (weird isn't it)

even in "Race Event and Schedules" 3 Categories where lost and topics are also gone in that section.

Legacy is now disabled. I saw this in the link you gave

"Kunena 1.5 requires Joomla! 1.5.x; the Legacy Plugin can be turned off for this version, but it may still be required for other installed components."

"Kunena 1.6 requires Joomla! 1.5.19+ or Joomla 1.6.x. It is highly recommended to upgrade or remove older software that was dependent on J 1.5 "legacy" mode. There is no "legacy" mode (or legacy concept) in Joomla 1.6. "

so i disable the legacy. Do I need to upgrade this?

So, let's see if I understand this correctly: You originally had K 1.5.12 some time ago - you had nothing before that? And you had all the messages. Then you upgraded to K 1.6 RC3 (but you didn't lose any messages) and then you upgraded to K 1.6.0 and lost some messages.

This is what I think really happened: You started with K 1.5.12 then upgraded to K 1.6 RC3 then posted a couple of messages. Then, when you installed K 1.6.0 you attempted to upgrade from K 1.5.12 again. Well, when you do that you lose anything posted between when you installed K 1.6 RC3 and when you installed K 1.6.0 and, I'm sorry, there's no way of getting those messages back again either.

When you upgrade from K 1.5.x you should only use this option once. If you install K 1.6.0 (but decide you don't like it) you can still go back to K 1.5.x but you will lose any messages posted while you were using K 1.6.0. Now this is where problems are really going to start to happen: when you install another newer version of K 1.6.x (like K 1.6.1, for example) you should not try to convert from any old K 1.5.x version..

I believe we're going to have a lot more questions asked, like this one, when K 1.6.1 is released.

Basically, let me summarise the installation options in the following diagram:

Just use the green option and you'll be all right.

The other message (about the legacy menu item) is a different subject again. See Kunena Notice: Legacy menu item in /main-forum (Itemid=180). Redirected to /forum (Itemid=220) for another example of this issue.

Upgrade what? Can you be more specific, please. The answer to your question is to read Legacy mode . If you do not have any Joomla 1.0 plugins or modules or templates or components or languages then you do not need to enable the System-Legacy plugin ... and you shouldn't enable it, either!

Thank you for your explanation. Yes I had the 1.5.12 then uprgrade to 1.6RC3 with the green and yes everything is alright as you mentioned "I didn't lose any messages".. now upgrading to 1.6.0 again i think I used yellow "migrate to kunena 1.5.x" reason to loose categories from 1.6RC3 not with 1.5.12

Upgrading from 1.6 RC3 - 1.6.0 with yellow option will take you back to 1.5.x post, but upgraded in 1.6.0
So the one posted in 1.5.x was only the one i can see in categories and posts not anymore with 1.6RC3
and upgrading 1.6RC3 to 1.6.0 should be the green option so database from 1.6RC3 will be copied to 1.6.0. Now I got you.

Yes its true that I cannot recover those posts again. coz i was searching and searching for an option even searching the database in my server host files that i really cant see anything to recover it.

It's a human error upgrading to 1.6.0 not the system, Green should be the option  ;)

Its ok, i Just manually post back or create same categories, I mass emailed members to post back also on thier last messages.

About the legacy its ok now. The issue here was the PagePeel that causes the Js to behave strange in kunena BBcode & smiley not to show. Its now back in business, Thank you for giving me a hint on that.

Kunena just works fine now in my website. Next upgrade is to follow that GREEN option.
(lesson learned from upgrading  )

Thanks your solution really helps. cheers!!
thats all for me now.
