That file location is incorrect. Common mistake, as I wrote.

The correct file location is ../administrator/components/com_kunena/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_kunena.ini

The case of files names is important when you are using Apache web servers, too.

Excuse me for completely messing up this topic. When we read the Wiki article, What is the language file in Kunena 1.6 we see (as I saw for the first time today) there are three language files:
  1. There is ../administrator/components/com_kunena/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_kunena.ini which is for the backend
  2. There is ../language/en-GB/en-GB.com_kunena.ini (which is something new) for the front end - xillibit was right, earlier, except that he was referring to a French-language file. You made a mistake in spelling the file with the correct letter case (I think); and
  3. There is ../components/com_kunena/template/default/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_kunena.ini (which is something else) for template settings
No wonder you were confused. I was confused, too. It's because I rarely change anything in Kunena - everything works fine for me, straight out of the box - I've never bother to look at this . I might wear this fancy moderator's hat but I'm just a user, too, you know ;) That's why it took me a while to figure out which file needed to be changed in this case.

You need to change the second of the three files I listed above. I'm sorry about the confusion. The Wiki article needs to be updated/improved and, maybe, someone can do that for us. You, perhaps? B)

BINGO!!!! #2 was it.... thank you so much.

kunena works great for me too... it's just that the original wording didn't make sense and i didn't want people to think bad of kunena because of improper wording.

One of my many jobs is to review the English language file/translation strings. I would like to have it done before Christmas but, the way things are looking, Christmas 2012 is looking to be a more realistic date. Some of the translations contain spelling errors and some of the English needs to be improved. It's an ongoing activity that requires the involvement of the whole community, not just the handful of people looking after the software development.

Thanks. I'm glad that we were able to be some help to you. :)
