Change Default Sort? was created by Blake
Where can I change the default sort order for the forums? By editing the config in the database? or what?

What is being sorted at the moment that is not suitable for your needs? What would you like to change the "default" sort order to?

What do you mean by sorting forums? You can change the order from backend, just like in Joomla categories. Or do you mean order of topics?

Order of the topics, like instead of showing by last topic on the index page change to something different o w/e it's default is ( I think it's default sort is by topic date ).

I think the short answer, based on your explanation of the issue, is no.

Just to be very clear, you are describing the order of topics as they appear on each category page (see example in the following image):

The sort order is hard-coded. The order is based on the most recently posted message in each topic; you can think of this as the thread's "update time". Topics/threads are sorted in descending chronological sequence based on the thread's "update time". How else would you want these to be sorted? The most recently updated discussion is at the top and the list shows progressively older discussions as you move down the list.
