Thank you for a very interesting question. If you want to lock your forum out from the general public, I would advise you to make the following configuration setting change:
Forum Configuration » Security » Security Settings » Registered Users Only = Yes
If you make this change then only logged-in, registered members of your site will be able to access and participate on your forum.

As I said this is my first time at building and maintaining a website, so there maybe a lot of questions coming up..
The site is for a Model Flying club here in the UK.
www.burymodelfc.co.uk
The club chairman is keen to have a club members tab on the site where only club members have access. This I believe I can set up through Kunena.
The general idea is that club members register with their pilots licence number that I am trying to get on a database. They can then post when and where they are going to fly to members who fly at one of 3 flying sites. The members can show an interest in all 3 sites or just on or two, depending on their preference.
I am stuck as to how to go about this.
I presume I need a database for the club members so I can check that they are who they say they are. How do I go about making this a private Forum as I have changed the configuration to registered users but cant find out where to add these users.
Maybe Im being a bit thick but any help I can get would be fantastic. I appreciate that this is probably a very basic and easily sort thing to do, but as I said I am a complete newby to this.
Thanks in advance
Shaun

That's a different question. I'm not sure what you mean, exactly, about having 3 sites. Are we discussing separate sites or just different parts of one site?alienwerx wrote: The general idea is that club members register ... [and] can then post ... at one of 3 flying sites. I think we've answered your original question and I've moved it from the Feature Requests category into a more appropriate category for you.

I have sorted out the problem with your advice and
it seems to be running Aok!
I have a further couple of questions that I hope you can help with.
A couple of people have registered to the forum but for some reason
they either don't get a confirmation e-mail to tell them they are registered,
or when they do get a confirmation and try to log on it states that they are
not registered and therefore cant log on. Any suggestions??
Also we cant seem to be able to load the members Avatars to their profile,
again any help would be fantastic.
Thanks again for all your help

The question is off-topic to this discussion but the general answer is to read How do I register new users to my website and where should they login to use my website?alienwerx wrote: A couple of people have registered to the forum but for some reason

The question is off-topic to this discussion but, there are many possible ways to interpret your question, too. I suggest that, in the first instance, you search the forum for "avatars" in the subject title and, if they don't help, start a new topic.alienwerx wrote: Also we cant seem to be able to load the members avatars to their profile.
