Solved Forced category decision possible?

Good solution would be the first option to be empty, that way when the users click post new topic the system will require from them to select category. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, that would be a good solution and it would also be my favourite choice, too.

Can I do this already, perhaps by changing some code?

Guys,

I may be missing something, but im SURE this is how Kunena has always worked and its how other forums all work?

You go into a Forum, click New Topic' and create a new topic in the foum that you was viewing.

That obviously how it should be.

I REALLY dont understand why there needs to be workaround etc. Surely this is how it SHOULD work? Why would someone navigate through the forums to find the right area, to then click new topic and then have to scroll through a dropdown list to find that forum that they had already looked for?

It depends on what you mean by the word forum and what you mean by click "New Topic".

You go into a category . You click the New Topic button (not the menu tab). That's what I was trying to explain a few messages ago. Does this help?

If you click on "New Topic" in the main menu of the forum, no matter where were you the form shows the first category as pre selected. This is the issue that many face, not the "new topic" icon which can be found above the messages, it works fine.
