Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.
Question Moving stuff to site global. Newb needs strategy.
My installation is Joomla 1.7 with some text pages, a Kunena forum and EasyBlog and not much else.
Now I would like to integrate, as far as practical, front end things like
- User registration / Login / Logout
- User profile editing
- Search
- Visitor statistics, who's, online etc...
Instead of having three of these, from Joomla generic, Kunena forum and EasyBlog, I am trying to get down to one of each that work site wide.
- Is there anything added by Kunena in the User profile, on registration an editing, that users can not access if I use the generic Joomla registration and profile editing?
- Will a Joomla native search also search and display Kunena forum content?
- The Kunena visitor statistics, who's, online etc, does that cover the whole site or just the Kunena forum pages?
Greatful for any input, suggestions, on this. Is it feasible to do what I want to do?
Thanks

Kunena is not responsible for user registration. Whatever you use for user registration, Kunena simply goes along with that. There are no integration issues for Kunena here.
Login is a slightly different matter. In very broad terms, you may need to tweak your Kunena intergration settings on what you use for your users to login. Most users do not need to change their Kunena configuration settings.
Joomla search can search Kunena forum content. You will need the Kunena Search plugin for that.
Who is online? yes, it covers who is logged-in whether they are using the forum or not.
What do you want your users to "access" or not via the Kunena user profile? Can you please be more specific?

Sorry if my questions are vague, but I am new to Joomla and Kunena so I do not know enough specifics to "ask better".
From a site user point of view, I would not like to have multiple GUIs doing very similar things. It is a source of confusion for users who do not know if the components are cooperating on this or not. Best if "everything" on a site looks and feels really integrated, not like a handful of separate entities under the same roof.
What I basically want to with Kunena is to remove the My Profile and Search tabs, if I can achieve something more or less similar with the generic Joomla components, for the whole site.
I just was not sure if there where additional fields / functions for Kunena, if the "Kunena user profile" is the same and identical to the "generic Joomla out-of-the-box profile" but it seems I am OK?!
I got a similar reply from the EasyBlog guys, I just need a search plugin to have this working from their point of view.
So it seems I can do this just like I want it
