Question Groups vs. Access Levels for controlling Kunena.

i've been using groups in J1.6 and not getting the expected behavior.

i'd like to be able to put users in a group and have that give them access to certain sections (but not whatever is a higher level). Which should i use for that: groups or access levels?

As it is, i can't give people access to the Officer's Area w/o making them global moderators (DO NOT WANT!). The Joomla grouping doesn't seem to control access in Kunena.

The goal is to have nested groups:
Registered
- Outfit
- - Officers
- - - Commanders

Officers can post/read in Registered, Outfit and Officers, but NOT in Commanders.

i must have messed up somewhere. Can i get some help here?

J! 1.6 is not supported by anyone, sorry.

The short answer to your question is that, no, with the group structure you have defined, you cannot exclude the child group Commanders if you include the child groups of Registered for the particular category. See Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 2) - advanced setup for special groups
