Idea Create Forums From Front End?

Might be a silly question, but I'm wondering if you can set up permissions or moderation somehow to allow creation of sub-forums from the front end? (I'm talking about 1.6.5 particularly.) Is it possible? Or is forum creation limited to the back end?

Thanks.

You can only administer categories from Kunena Category Manager in K 1.6 (see Sections, Categories, sub-categories (part 1)

Not the answer I was hoping to hear, but thanks anyway! :)

One followup question...I'm gonna show my newbiness here: Is there way to grant back-end access to a user (moderator) to allow him to create Kunena categories but not have unlimited access to the backend? (If that is more of a Joomla question, I understand. B) )

Your follow-up question is a Joomla administration issue, yes. You can allow any user to access your backend as long as they have Manager, Administrator or Super-Administrator privileges. You can specifically restrict the ability to access the category configuration settings for certain sections/categories/sub-categories to those user groups, if you want.

Whether a user who is a Manager can access and control the Kunena component, however, that's more of a Joomla-related question.

The short answer to your question is yes. :)

Thanks. That helps me understand. I lied in previous post...I have one more question.

The Joomla ACL tutorial refers to the component options button that appears on many components, like Article Manager, et. Al. This allows access to be specified for that component. An option button doesn't come up for Kunena. Does it simply not exist for Kunena? Or do I have to do something specific to access it?

Thanks again.

Yes, this simply doesn't exist in Kunena

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.
