Question Subscribing a new user to forum categories

Great to see that in (new, elegant) K1.6, users can subscribe to categories as well as to individual topics. GREAT!

I have a site where new users can indicate on registration (through CB Custom Fields) their particular areas of interest. The available areas of interest coincide with forum categories. If possible I would like to be able to be able to subscribe these new users to the relevant forum categories so that they automatically get email update of new posts on any of their chosen categories. I think this would help overcome any resistance to getting them engaged.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible for administrator, or moderators to subscribe new users to categories, or must they do it themselves?

None of these features are possible out of the box, but they should be pretty easy to implement as CB plugin.

We have already done some improvements in 2.0 to easily allow everything you're asking. I'm just not sure if they will make into 2.0.

FWIW it gets my 'thumbs up'.
I note that it's a feature in some other forum extensions, but prefer to stick with KUNENA if the feature is somewhere in the planning pipeline.
