Question Login / Logout problem

My forum is hidden completely, until a user loggs into the frontend
via the "regular" JOOMLA login. This works just fine, and with the
login in the frontend, the KUNENA forum is also available.

My problem:
If I logg off via the log off provided by KUNENA, the regular JOOMLA
is also logged out. Perfect I thought, but: Next time I try to logg in,
I nearly always (depends how much time has passed) get a "session expired"
message.

Same thing if I logg out via the JOOMLA logout. I always get the
"session expired" if I logg back in after x minutes. If I do it right
away, no problem either way.

I assume this has something to do with the session time out in the KUNENA
back-end (see attachment), but can't find any documentation. Can I safely
set this to ZERO if I am handling the login / session length via the regular
JOOMLA login module?

Good question. I don't know the answer but it should be very easy to confirm. Set the Joomla session to a different value (say 1 minute) and see how the system responds.

I just felt lucky and set the session time out for KUNENA to ZERO. Seems to take care of the problem.

Normally it's not a very good idea to start messing around with these kinds of settings. I would suggest that you start by putting your Joomla and your Kunena configuration settings back to their default values. For the occasional time that you might need to change session time, it is better to make the Kunena session time the same length as the Joomla session time.

For Joomla: Global Settings » System » Session Settings:
Session Lifetime - 30 minutes
Session Handler - Database

For Kunena: Kunena Forum » Kunena Configuration » General » Basic Settings:
Session Lifetime = 1800 seconds
