It didn't work because debug does not work for me.

So one of my two solutions is to fix my debugging mode, or if perhaps it is possible to get this to work outside of debugging?

Could my debug error have anything to do with the fact I have php version 5.2.14 rather than the recommended 5.2.3?

here got you the file, to make it work without debug. But there is an extension or plugin that makes that error, disable one by one plugin, and check if its gone, then you will find the bad plugin.
