Idea [Merged topic] Auto-graduated forum rights dependent on activity; User infraction system
I'm looking for the following features:
- user promotion: allow user to do X after Y posts (5 posts and you're allowed a signature link...)
- an infraction system: more or less the reverse of above - if you don't behave we'll restrict your rights
Is that possible with Kunena?

Basically, the answer to your questions are that Kunena does not include the features you have asked about.
Further ideas on the specific suggestions that you have made:
- Graduated user rights based on forum participation: I'm sure we've had these kinds of discussions before but I wasn't able to turn up anything in my searches. In effect, there needs to be some kind of rule-based algorithm implemented that uses a table of allowable actions that link to forum participation (e.g. the number of posts made by a user). The "table of allowable actions" needs to able to be changed/managed with some administration tool. Although there is a automated user ranking "feature" the rankings do not translate into what a user can do. I think it would be a good idea to extend the Kunena rank feature in such ways as you have suggested.

Alas, I'm planning on adding a forum to my software site and there's bound to be a hell of a lot of "one-timers" passing by only to leave a link to their own site. So I need to restrict the ability to link or the right to have a signature link to "honest" members or valid contributors.
In vBulletin (which I know very well) this is done by the promotion/infraction system. Is there any other way this can be done in Kunena?

In my experience this is not borne out by the facts. For example, www.kunena.com is a "software site" and the issue does not arise to any significant extent. I agree that there is no way of knowing ahead of time if someone joining your website will become an "honest" member or a valuable contributor; that's just something you'll have to judge later. On the other hand, if someone joins your site and has every intention of making an honest contribution but they're confronted by "you can't have a signature until you've made n posts" or "you can't do this until you've made m posts" they are just as likely to say "to hell with that" and move on to another website.delta1001 wrote: ... there's bound to be a hell of a lot of "one-timers" passing by only to leave a link to their own site ...
The things you ask are possible - nothing is impossible but everything has a cost. The cost may be money to have the feature constructed to your specifications. The cost may also be a loss in membership activity arising from a dislike of the feature. These are things you'll have to carefully consider.

So even if you only ask for one (ONE) post before allowing a signature link or link in the post - which can be easily done by asking the people to introduce themselves with a few lines in a "hello"-forum - reduces the number of those cowboys drastically. It's too cumbersome first to write an intro and then to get permission for a link. Just this one post.
Of course if Bill Gates participates in the forum and gives free insider MS hints, one will not object to him having a sig link to the evil-empire.com
Alas, if Kunena hasn't got that feature, it simply hasn't got it! And reading your post I gather it is certainly not on the priority list, or is it?
Thanks for your help

I currently have my forums set-up so that any posts that are made, are first approved by an assigned moderator.
However, due to increasing numbers of active members I would like to only have to approve posts made by the 'lower ranks' or less than 'x' amount of total posts. Is this possible?
Any input would me massively appreciated as I have spent hours trawling through other forum posts, but to no joy.
Thank you in advance.
