Mootools Issue was created by kestral
I'm using the RocketTheme Kinetic template v1.5.6 with the latest releases of all of the associated RT extensions. Mootools v1.2 is enabled and PHP has been upgraded to 5.2.10. I'm also using Gantry v3.10. When I installed K v1.6, the main menu in that section of the site, ceases to function. In other words, the verbiage and the links are there, but the ribbon graphic and the hover over feature have disappeared in addition to the split-menu functionality which displays the submenu items. The following error is also generated:

Would you please submit your enquiry to the Rockettheme support forum and let us know how you get on. Thanks

I have submitted my inquiry to both forums, but the problem seems to stem from the Kunena extension which breaks the menu structure only in it's respective location.

Kunena v1.6 was the reason that I upgraded Joomla, then the template, then the templates extensions, activated mootools, and finally PHP. I went to a lot of trouble to deploy it only to have it break the template menu structure in any given section to which it is assigned. The rest of the site/template seems fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

K

We appreciate the extent to which you have made the effort to bring your Joomla site up-to-date as far as software versions are concerned. I wish there were more people like you who made the investment of their time to search for the availability of what is the latest in Joomla and in the extensions designed for it. :)

I also understand many people have a reluctance to accept that Kunena just uses "basic" Joomla and the "basic" Javascript libraries that were developed for the most recent version of Joomla. Kunena does not introduce any other Javascript libraries developed by the project team unlike some other products. I'm not saying that Rockettheme uses something else, either, when I say that. But as strongly as we try to get this message across, and as often as we try to make this point, there are sceptics who find this difficult to accept.

The facts about Mootools 1.2.4 (also known as the "Mootools Upgrade") are clearly set out in the Wiki: Mootools 1.2.4 . It is extremely unlikely that Kunena has done something to affect other things on your website.

The problems that you are having with your Rockettheme menu: are they only on the pages on which Kunena is displayed or do they also happen on other pages?

Sozzled,

Thank you for your reply. In response to your question, this particular problem is confined to the Kunena pages only. There is a minor issue with the split menu hover feature that I noticed on a handful of other other pages, but the problem on the Kunena pages pertains to both the main and sub menus, with the sub-menus being non-existant and the graphical/hover elements on the main menu broken. The rest of the site is functioning as expected.

K

I had a quick at kestral's website - it's complicated to find the forum and I'm not really sure I understand the problem - but after navigating to the forum everything looks fine from there on. Perhaps someone else can help with this issue?

My suggestion - for what it's worth - is to simplify the site navigation and not to be too concerned about the vagaries of the site template.
