Hi,

If we make a user a moderator for a specific forum , will that user be able to moderate sub forums under that forum as well ? Or do we have to assign the right each and every sub-forums under it ?

Thank You

No; the propagation of moderator privileges does not extend to sub-categories. Please note: we prefer the term category to "forum".

Yes. There is an alternative: assign your users as global moderators; global moderators have moderator privileges in all categories. See How to assign a moderator to my Kunena forum and How to add a moderator .

But we want to assign moderator rights only for specific forums only for one user.

Shall we handle it from my-sql back end ?

I think we've answered that question. If you want to assign a user moderator privileges for only one category (please use the word category so as not to confuse matters) then assign the user to be the moderator of just that category. If you want the user to be a moderator of another category, then assign them to that other category, also. If you want the user to be a moderator of a sub-category of a category, then assign the user the moderator rights to that sub-category, too, as well as any other category/categories or sub-categories that you want.

There is no need to mess things up by trying to fudge things with phpMyAdmin.
