You can have all BBCode tags in your signatures. Including images...

First of all answer this like I have no Idea.

Your questions 1-3 were answered previously in Matias' reply. There are no signature files, as such, in Kunena. There is only the Kunena profile edit facility that allows you to add your own "signature" information; that's what I use here (see below this message).

Q4 is not possible in K 1.7. Sorry.

We are using Jomsocial as profile management, if I want to edit my signature, go to forum profile add a signature, do I have to use BBC code to add.

If so this would be complicated for users, is there an option to them instead of trying to explain to them BBcode.

As most members are not familiar with BBc is there other options for signatures that automate the process.

As it appears using Jomsocial as a profile management, go to jomsocial profiles, click forum, cilck profiles, go to signature and add. Only if you want to be bold, add url, change color, or add logo or picture you have to add BBC.

This would seem to be daunting for a lot of users. Is there an alternative?

Also if you provided an exact example using BBC Using the following

1. URL
2. Logo/Picture and can we control the size of this file.
3. Bold
4. Font Color - and can we control which colors.

Use a complete example for the above, so we can provide this to our members.

Again, I would prefer there was an automated way for members to create signatures. Is there one?

No, there are currently no other options available at this time (see msg #2 in this topic).
