Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Question Rename Failed
components/com_kunena/kunena.new.php
administrator/components/com_kunena/admin.kunena.new.php
Just rename them by removing ".new" (replacing current files) and you should have Kunena up and running.
I have no idea why renaming those files fail in XAMP. Can you check file permissions from both new and old files, which get replaced..?

I also use XAMPP for Windows as my testing server.
I noticed that there are already files named:
components/com_kunena/kunena.php
administrator/components/com_kunena/admin.kunena.php
So this may be the reason why "renaming failed".
Hope the Kunena team will fix this soon.
Thanks.

components/com_kunena/kunena.php
administrator/components/com_kunena/admin.kunena.php
then
Rename failed (in this case) comes from two files:
components/com_kunena/kunena.new.php
administrator/components/com_kunena/admin.kunena.new.php
Just rename them by removing ".new" (replacing current files) and you should have Kunena up and running.

WAMP/MAMP/XAMPP/whatever is "all right" (I suppose) if you want to do things quick-and-dirty but, because you have to spend an impossible amount of time tweaking various settings, adding other bits and pieces (to get e-mail working, for instance), you can't test everything. Even if you use your own PC to conduct feasibility testing (i.e. to see if something is possible) you can never use your PC to test a work's viability (i.e. to establish that the product under test will work in an operational environment).
So, while we may try to find the cause of this "rename" failure, the common theme (so far) is that these things occur in a Windows-based, local PC environment where people are trying to simulate real-world operational situations. I would ask the question, can the problems be replicated on web servers situated on the internet or are we spending our time looking for one loose screw while everyone else is screwing the 10,000 others into place?
