Thanks. I looked at your site. I see the issues but I'm not sure of the remedy. I still feel strongly that the problem is caused by not having SEO properly setup. You do not have a .htaccess file according to the K 1.6 configuration report. It's no wonder you can't do the Apache mod_rewrite function. Read the guide I presented to you seven messages ago and deposit a .htacccess file (as described in the guide) and it should work.

As always, thanks for your help in trying to work through these issues. This morning I have thus far: 1. Uninstalled K2 (I never used it anyway) 2. Renamed the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess (which I should have noticed the warning label telling me to do before enabling Apache mod rewrite) 3. Enabled Apache mod rewrite....

I know you indicated several other issues, which I have no doubt are errors on my part. I'm working through them, yet I am still having the same issues with accessing the forum outside of being a registered user.

EDIT: In an extremely interesting twist, I have BBCode working with the MoTools plugin disabled. Go figure and not sure how it happened.

I wasn't aware that you were experiencing the "missing BBcode toolbar" issue ; I hadn't got that far. If you read Mootools 1.2.4 you will see that you do not need to enable the System - Mtupdate plugin; Kunena enables that plugin, even if you have it disabled. We are aware from various reports that some people have difficulty using K2 and Kunena.

It's a good policy to not install software if you do not use it. If something is not important in the overall scheme of things then eliminate it and concentrate on what is important. I've discussed this elsewhere (see Which came first, the template or the forum? )

I'm pleased to see that you have taken our advice, to adopt the standard Joomla recommendations with regards to SEO. It makes things a whole lot easier when trying to diagnose site setup issues.

I found and fixed the problem.

You had a menu item called "Message Board" on a user menu that pointed to the Kunena component. This menu item could only be accessed by registered users. I deleted that item and now everything works. If you want to learn more about adding your own Joomla menu items please see Customised Menus .
