That's a pity, moreover because Facebook offers the possibility to grant access to websites via Facebook login ( documentation here ) and JomSocial costs a lot of money , which (sort of) quashes the intent of Kunena! :(

I bought JomSocial and I would like to share my experiences. The reason I purchased JomSocial was to lower the access threshold to my website's forum and as an option to defend myself against spambots.

I should have known better. Why? First of all, where does Kunena itself provide a Facebook login possibility on this site?
Nowhere.
That should have been a telling sign.

After I installed JomSocial on my site, I found out that it is not a simple plugin, but an entire template that tries to run your website or elements of it. JomSocial is difficult to customize, support is quick and kind but not very effective (over 100 exchanged messages in 3 months time), and the amount of features that come along with JomSocial is tremendous. Among others, JomSocial comes with Forum features, user profiles etc. --in brief: features that make the use of Kunena on a site redundant.
The interaction of JomSocial with Facebook is frequent and to my feeling out of my control.

I paid about € 100,- for JomSocial (which is ridiculous if you consider that I deliberately chose for Kunena because it is a free-of-charge, open source plugin) and I advise all webmasters considering Facebook login to consider other options.
I don't know if there are, but I'd be glad to learn about them.

Am I missing the point in this thread?

You want to be able to register/login to Kunena using your Facebook account, right?
Kunena is not standalone but a component for Joomla, right?

So, why not use a free extension to have users register to your site using their facebook credentials?

I have used probably all of the free ones out there...I am not all that happy with most and they come with too many stuff I have no use for...

So the best plugin out there for facebook integration-register/login is
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...on-cloud-based/16644

This is solely a PLUGIN, not a module, not a component...you don't have to use it's very own login module, that is...
It works for Kunena too! You don't have to use Joomla's separate login module either

Very easy to use, one just has to login using his/her facebook login details and he/she is immediately registered to the site & forum.

If you want to display that functionality, I guess all you need to do is upload an image/logo and insert a link/code somewhere in the Kunena's template to display that in the frontend...

Code:
<div> <img src="/images/fbconnect.png" title="bla bla bla" alt="bla, bla bla" style="border: 0pt none ; vertical-align: middle; "> </div>
I have used this approach on a dropdown/wrapped module I have placed on the top of my website, so I can't tell you which Kunena file you have to edit, but I guess this is something more experienced users or the support personnel here can certainly help you out with...
Well, I might use it after all as well for my Kunena forum..

I know this topic has been brought up in the past, but is there anyway, component, plugin or module that I could use to add facebook, and twitter login capabilities to the default Kunena fourm horziontal menu (Klogin) box?

Is there a sample code insertion or a free extension/plugin?

hello, I hope someone can assist me. I am seeking a javascript code I could add to the kunena login box to allow users to login to the forum with facebook credentials. According to the developers at JFBConnect this feature is possible. I added the "Connect with Facebook" button to the login box of the default template, but when I select the button, nothing happens! see below

Can anyone help?
