Hi Kunenan's

I am having a bit problems with the login function on my site, I am using Jomsocial to support all login/logout operations.

So when users login to Jomsocial frontpage and go to directly to Kunena forum via the normal Kunena menu ie. mydomain.com/forum it all works perfectly but if the users goes directly to mydomain.com/forum/a-forum-categoty-example they are very very often being logged out again from my site.

Does Kunena not support the use of direct links to a Kunena category in Joomla topmenu??

Best regards Mikkel.

Thank you for your question, Mikkel.

Login problems seem to be a recurring issue for many of the users and we receive a continuous stream of questions about login redirection . As I have always tried to make the point in this discussion forum, login, logout and registration are not actually functions that are performed by Kunena: these are Joomla issues or they involve various third-party products (like Community Builder or Jomsocial) that assist users with those functions. Even so, K 1.5 (or even K 1.0 or its predecessors) have always been problematic.

As I also wrote ( Kunena 1.6 - A dingo took my login ... ? ) these problems have been finally addressed (and solved) with K 1.6 ... and that's welcome news, isn't it? :)

In the meantime, I suggest you read through the many discussions (see the first link I posted above) that we've had in the past about ways you can work around your problem. B)

Thanks for reply Sozzled. It seems that I am not the only one with login troubles! Hopefully the Joomla community will figure it out as time goes by?

Best regards Mikkel.

Hi,

It happens because when the user login the page directly the cookies are created with the name of the main site. So whenever user navigates the other pages of the sites the default cookie of the site overwrite it with the default value as a result user gets logged out. But in the case of user logging to the site will stayed logged on as the cookies created first time will be inherits the previous values of the cookie while updating.

I'm using the latest 1.6 version. Same problem.
A user logs in using Joomla's core module (tested on a clean installation of Joomla 1.5.21 and Kunena 1.6.0. Nothing else, no modification).
Browsing to the main page of Kunena, then dipper - works fine.
Until the user gets to any post, or try to open a new topic - then boom. The user is been logged out.
Since the entire forum is for registered users, he has to log in again, then everything works fine.

It is something with the session or cookies as zamaicabru suggested, but is there any work around?
