Hi, I am a member of a small community group that have been running a local information website for about 8 years using Joomla.  It is an old version (Joomla 1.8) which I know is ancient in real terms but the group are going with it until I suppose it eventually falls over.  We now want to develop another different website but this time using the latest version of Joomla and our hosting company will allow us to host another website on the same server as an add-on domain.  My question is if we upload the latest version of Joomla to the same server will it replace or interfere with the older version and possibly affect the original website that is running?

Regards

You must create your own database and may not install the new Joomla in the same directory, otherwise you would to install the new Joomla over the old version.
