Is there a way I can renumber the categories ID numbers without causing any problems with the forum?

Thanks in advance :)

That function regards posts, not category ID numbers. What I want is to rename the ID to something like this

Old Version
-40-CategoryA
-25-CategoryB
-9-CategoryC
-37-CategoryD

New Version
-1-CategoryA
-2-CategoryB
-3-CategoryC
-4-CategoryD

SInce this is an automatic sequence number from MySQL, this is no as easy at the moment. I recommend you create Brand New Categories, leave them empty, go into phpMyAdmin, edit their category ids to your liking, check your forum if they are what you want them to be and then move all messages into the new categories.

Hope this helps!
