I think we've had this discussion before (although I appreciate Matias' input this time around): see
How to hide the contents of the topic reply to view?
.
This is more of a feature request but, I think, it's something that that is likely to have limited appeal. I have seen a some discussion forums where a user creates a topic - usually to ask a technical question - and other people contribute their two-cents' worth. Most of the time, though, what other people contribute isn't worth two cents.
But I agree that in
some cases you might want to encourage forum participation instead of simply allowing anyone pilfer your site without doing anything for it. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
However, a lot of people forget that
Kunena is a discussion forum component and they try to use it as a document repository instead. Therefore, suggesting that you could use
Kunena to prevent unfettered access to people's intellectual properties (e.g. original artwork, music etc.) is like suggesting that you should keep your life savings in a piggy-bank!
While it may seem that I'm poking fun at those who have asked a serious question, I actually understand the need and why it
may be a good idea to achieve what's been asked (even if I would never use the functionality).
Although you
can restrict certain material (forum categories and topics) - you can
certainly hide material from the nosey public -
Kunena was never designed with the intention of making your
users jump through hoops in order to get the few crumbs you may scatter in their direction. Perhaps a different component would suit your needs instead?
Anyway, that's just my two-cents' worth ...
